Description
"Rape of the Sabine Woman (Indian)" by Luis Jimenez (1940-2006) This was drawn in 1977. The dimentions of this fine art is 52 1/2" x 40 1/4" (framed), 39 x 28 (unframed). This piece is a one of a kind, as there are no other known copies of this drawing. It was done in crayon, colored pencil and pencil as many of his works of art were, and drawn on canvas. It has Jimenez's signature, the date and title of the piece on the lower right hand corner. The drawing is in excellent condition. It has been professionally framed to keep it in such condition. My father, who was an avid collector of his works, obtained this piece from the artist along with many others. My family has been the only owner of this particular drawing. Jimenez adapts the ancient mythological story to the American Indians' saga. He was known for his often controversial work and felt that he constantly needed to push the limits. In this drawing he does just that, and sums up the plite of the North American Indian in one piece of art. Because of the significance of this artwork, returns are not accepted (to keep travel at a minimum). However, additional photographs and any information will be furnished upon request. Shipping information will be available upon request.
