Peters, Harrisburg PA Birth and Baptism of a Child from Hanover Twp, Lebanon County, Pa. Here is a very nice Framed Original 1838 Pennsylvania German Print Form Frakur, by G.S. Peters, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This one being a Birth and Baptism Fraktur for a child born, Sara June Hershlenge, a daughter of Samuel Herschberger and his wife Elizabeth Herschberger (nee Hesson). She was born on the 11 th of January, 1849 in Hanover Township, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. She was baptised on the 1st of May, 1849. This a Vertical Format Fraktur, with a Center Panel, containing text flanked by facing Angels, having an Amerian Eagle at the top center and Birds on branches on the bottom corners. Printed color of Yellow and Red, center panel filled in with black ink in German Script. The actual Fraktur measures 13 1/4" x 16 3/8", with some foxing and typical edge tears and wear. It is housed in a Early 20th Century Wood Frame, measuring 16 1/4" x 19" with some Frame wear. This is a nice example of G.S Peters. The lettering ws done by a Professional Penman and is quite nice and very legible. The Condition for this 159 Year Old Fraktur is typical of its age, with some Foxing, Fold Tears and Edge Wear, but overall this Fraktur shows very nice and would make a nice addition to any Fraktur Collection or a great find for anyone from the Herschberger or Hesson Families.
