D E S C R I P T I O N "1901 Rowing Club Artist Carved Sign" First off, this is GENUINE Turn of The Century,,,GUARANTEED. This one and another Artist made sign (that we also have listed) have been in our family since the 1920's. My grandmother who was born in 1887 acquired these in the late teens or early 1920's, prior to my mother being born in 1922. When my grandmother passed away in 1971 they automatically came into my mothers possession since she was an only child. They have always been stored in the loft of our barn on my parents farm and we have only seen these a few times since my Grandmother passed away. A few years ago my mother had to sell the farm and move in with my youngest brother and we stumbled acrossed these signs again during the process of moving my mother. Unfortunately we don't have any history on the Artist or owner(s) prior to 1920. Sign is approx. 1.5" thick and 25" by 31". Unfortunately the original carved wooden oars are missing on this but if you are handy you should be able to make a pair to enhance this terrific vintage sign. The artist did not sign this piece.
