Description
FOR BOSTON TERRIER LOVERS: Adorable ca 12x16” studio photograph of a BOSTON TERRIER in period frame. Photographed with an 8x10 view camera, the sepia-toned image was then transferred to cardboard. It is signed Bachrach 1920 in ink on the cardboard, with an oval imprinted seal showing a young woman, and the initials LFB, standing for Louis Fabian Bachrach. For nearly 140 years, four generations of Bachrach have excelled in portrait photography. In 1863, eighteen-year-old David Bachrach traveled from Baltimore to Gettysburg. He was hired by Harper’s Bazaar to photograph President Lincoln delivering the Gettysburg address. In 1868 David Bachrach opened his first photography studio in Baltimore, MD. He had photographed many important Americans: Ulysses S. Grant, Grover Cleveland, Theodore Roosevelt, Alexander Graham Bell, and others. His son, Louis Fabian Bachrach, took over the business in the 1920s. Today, the Bachrachs still maintain a full service photography studio in Boston, MA.
