Could be the work of a well known french cubist who may have used this for a study of some sort.   CONDITION:  Tremendous and all original. I had a light cleanning done several years ago by a museum conservator to removed dust in recessed areas and some other light marks. FRAME COMMENT: This frame is from the 1930's and that I had it re-gold guilted, such a spectacular 1930's custom frame. This frame is quite rare and was custom made for this work back in the 1930's PROVENANCE:    Antique store back in the early 1980's. DESCRIPTION:    See Below COMMENT:  From my personal collection of 30 years of specializing in early cubist period art, this clearly is a work that was prominent during the 1912-1917 period in France, Italy and Russia. I place the time period for this work sometime during the first half of the 1920's. This work certainly contends with the works of; Diego Rivera for his cubist works, that of Juan Gris and Georges Braque. The work is filled in spectacular shapes that all tie together to form the perfect cubist composition that was prevailent in the french artworld during 1912-1917. Although not signed by the artist, still my starting price is extremely conservative for a work of this magnitude and age.
