Description
cousinit Store 1950's VINTAGE SOAP BOX DERBY CAR EDGEWOOD, NJ DAIRY UNIQUE, ONE OF A KIND! Handmade, piece of Americana from the age of father/son backyard garage projects. This would make a great central display for your rec room, bar area or vintage racing "home museum".This auction is for a 1950's era Soap Box Derby racing car. The sponsor of the car was Edgewood Dairy, found in the Farmingdale Howell area of New Jersey.Dimensions: Body: 62" long, 16" wide, 11 1/4" high.Wheelbase: 41"Out-to-out of Wheels: 36"Wheels: 10" Diameter, marked: 10 x 1.75 FTotal height: Wheels to high point of canvas body: +/-21"The canvas top is in overall good condition considering its age. There is a dark stain at the rear canvas, some slight spotting (age spots), no tears, 2 symmetrical holes on top of front canvas (possibly from a windwhield being mounted there?). These holes do not look like damage. I believe the frame is constructed from 1/8" thick Masonite. No cracks. It has a 8 1/2" diameter metal steering wheel with attached metal plate reading: P-101387-4. The steering wheel is connected to pulley and wires for front wheel steering. It has a hand brake for friction braking. The floor is 3/4" thick plywood base with a 3/8" thick plywood seat, hinged to fold down for storage (possibly a helmet?) behind the seat. (Helmet not included.) This is a great piece of local NJ and soap box derby memorabilia. Cars of this era rarely show up for sale, so don't let it slip away! PICK UP OR LOCAL DELIVERY ONLY. No shipping on this item will be available. PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: All sales final. Returns are only if I failed to describe the item accurately. I will accept Paypal and money orders. Payment is expected within 10 days of auction's close unless prior arrangements have been made. Bids from ebayers with an overall negative feedback rating will not be accepted. NJ residents must pay 7% sales tax or furnish tax I.D. IF YOU DON'T HEAR FROM ME WITHIN 3 DAYS, IT IS BECAUSE YOUR EMAIL INFO W/EBAY IS INCORRECT. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ME TO COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION.
