This is truly the photographer at his best, reminiscent of work by early 20th Century Modernist photographers, especially Horst (Horst Paul Albert Bohrmann). Surprisingly contemporary in his approach to both the male physique and photographic technique, the man that called himself "Les Demi Dieux" (which is French for "the demigods") is little known among collectors. His work appeared in beefcake publications like Demi Gods and Young Physique in the early 1960s, featuring popular models like Jerry Albanese, Bennett and Vince Perri. But the images we have found to be most intriguing are those of Brooklyn street hooligans posing between their Buicks and against the chain links of the local basketball courts, or country youths posing deep in the back woods. The beautiful 11-by-14-inch vintage photograph is printed on heavy glossy stock and is in good condition with very minimal handling wear to the edges.
