The book which was signed and numbered included a total of 12 prints published by Editions d'Atelier Crommelynck in 1968 with an edition of 200 which  are only signed and numbered at the justification page of each suite The print  is referenced in catalogue raisonné Bloch 1255. Printed on Rives wove paper,  Image size 320 mm x 220 mm; paper size 380 mm x 280 mm.   The pages with prints and text were loose in the folio. This print has page  162 of text from the play attached. The print is the 12th  one of the suite and has always been the most sought after of the suite because of the  exceptionally  rich aquatint with deep black tone.The condition is pristine, it has NEVER been framed and has been stored in ideal climate controlled storage for 35 yearsCompare with offerings of $ 15,000.00 Le Cocu Magnifique (The Splendid Cuckold) is an illustration of the 1921 play by Belgian playwright and friend of Picasso, Fernand Crommelynck. The title refers to the cuckoo bird female who commonly lays her eggs in other nests and the play revolves around the tribulations of love and adultery. These works divulge in Picasso’s use of erotic sequences; making use of his dramatic line and mastery of aquatint. Consistent with many works in his later years, we often see reflections of an autobiographical quality within the suite.
