Bid With Confidence - 100% Positive Feedback Description:  Original watercolour portrait painting of a bearded gentleman.  Done in tones of black, white, and grey.  Period wood frame with faux graining effect and decorative gilt inner border.  Precise age and artist unknown (I haven't removed it from the frame to inspect it for a signature.. the nails on the back are quite resistant to removal).  I'm guessing it dates to 1860-1880, around there.  The framer's marks on the back indicate that it was very likely painted in here Victoria British Columbia Canada, in the early days of the city's existence.  Measurements:   Frame: 17" X 15" X 2"; Image (oval): 9 5/8" X 6 7/8". Markings:  Marked on the back (partially illegible):  "Jos______ers; Mirrors _____ & Frames; Government St. Victoria BC". Condition:   a bit of tiny spotting to the painting in the face area (in close-up photos it appears more pronounced than it actually is);  some scuffing and knicks to the frame edges.
