Alon Porat was born in 1951 in Tel Aviv, Israel. Between 1966 and 1971 he studied with the Sculptor Eli Ilan. In 1973 he moved to England where he studied at the New Port College of Wales and later at the Kingston College in London. Upon returning to Israel, in 1977 Porat spent a year in Jerusalem. He then moved to 'Klil' , in the Galil, Israel, where he lives till this day.
