Description
Current Lot Marguerite Zorach Robinhood Farm 25 X 28 inches Marguerite Zorach l.r. The artistTo George and Julia Amy Ipcar Saslow (Julia was the sister of Adolph Ipcar, who married Dahlov Zorach, the artist's daughter)By descent to the current owners, their four children, Michael, Steven, and Marguerite, all of Oregon , and Rondi, of California This canvas, which probably dates from the late 1930's, possibly early 40's, according to Jonathan Zorach, the artist's grandson, is "a view up the hill of Dahlov's house with the barn on the left, the ice house on the right. Behind the barn was another small building called the apple house, which both Marguerite and Dahlov used as a studio."Steven Saslow in an email: I believe the date of my parents' marriage is summer 1928, with prior trips to and courtship at the Farm, including visiting with the Zorachs, - and they had a month-long honeymoon right across the Cove from Robinhood Farm, in a most "rustic" cabin, -and apparently it rained the entire time! Our major family vacation-trip destination was usually the Robinhood farm area (from the Boston area, St. Louis, and later, Portland OR) Oil on canvas
