FEATURED AUCTION ! * * 19th century watercolor drawings are such a good example of our primitive folk art heritage and this one is fresh to the market from a recent Lancaster, PA antique auction. It has wonderful polychrome colors and the fraktur is a bird sitting on a flower branch that is planted in a pot. The artist signed the pot J. B. Miller. It is well executed and the artist was even able to include two hearts by incorporating them into the flowers. It measures 9 3/4 by 7 3/4 overall and sight size (inside the mat) is 6 1/4 by 4 1/4. Someone has written on the back Ex. Robacker collection,   Purch 9-1-89, Lot # 2179 (see catalog), $30.  E. F. Robacker wrote many books and articles on Pennsylvania antiques. It's in good condition with allover toning and no holes or tears. The only apologies are a crease in the middle and a very light tan area along the top border. The frame ( chip on bottom left corner ) is later than the fraktur however they do look nice together - especially with the green border on the matting.
