Description
Hand-woven cotton strip cloth from the Bamana & Dogon people of Mali. Cloth measures 72" long by 45" wide; each strip is about 3 1/2" wide - there are 13 strips in this piece. This blanket is still traditionally woven by men and is used as a blanket. The same cloth is dyed into "mud-cloth" or called "bogolanfini" or commonly called "bogolan", which is then worn by women as a "wrapper" (what we would call a wrapped skirt) and sewn into shirts for men. NOTE: I have numerous other unique items that I collected while working in W.Africa, so you can email me with questions of other things that you might be interested in. I currently live on the Central CA Coast, so if you're in the area, come take a look & avoid shipping!
