ORIGINAL Pardiñas Pencil Portrait (No Reserve) ALEJANDRO PARDIÑAS Portrait, Pencil This Pencil drawing reveals the features of an old lady with the style of one of Spain's greatest artists, Alejandro Pardiñas. It has been suggested that this may be a portrait of a woman from a famous family of the time. Her name is Maria de Y. L. de Barrientos .This portrait was drawn in Mexico between 1948-1965. This original pencil drawing is 12 inches by 15.5 inches. It is signed by the artist, Alejandro Pardiñas, on the right side of the drawing,it is also signed by the lady that posed for him. Condition: EXCELENT though paper is time aged and of the period. This drawing is in the possession of Pardiñas' daughter. "My father did not market his paintings due to his humble nature, but I believe his artistic style and grace are among the best of his time." Alejandro Pardiñas was a Spanish painter born in 1890. He studied in Madrid at the Escuela de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado de San Fernando. He also studied in Munich and Paris. It was during his stay in Paris that he became friends with Pablo Picasso and Diego Rivera. In Spain he also studied under Joaquin Sorolla. He was a portrait painter, as well as, a realist/impressionist one. He was named painter of the Royal Family of Spain and painted many oil paintings of King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria (1915 -1931.) While living in California he painted oil paintings of Linda Darnell,Rita Hayworth,Evelyn Ankers,Patricia Morrison,Carol Lombard,Ann Sheridan ,Glenn Ford,James Craig and others.(1940-1948.
