From the sensational silver lamé costume, complete with pearl wings and ebony-plumed cap, that he wore to a ball in 1914, to his magical and elegant designs for the Broadway musical Stardust in 1988, Erté pursued his chosen career with unflagging zest and creativity for almost 80 years. On his death in 1990, he was hailed as the "prince of the music hall" and "a mirror of fashion for 75 years".  Submit Best Offer:  Original Erte works are very hard to find. The artwork listed is an Original Erte Art Deco Gouache Illustration Painting, titled “Delphine”.  This original gouache painting is signed by Erte in ink near the lower right and was completed in 1952 for the play, Cosi Fan Tutte.  The artist’s stamps are located on the verso.  This Erte gouache painting is by far the nicest we have ever been able to offer for sale.  Finely presented, this original painting is housed in a custom gold leaf frame.  Truly the centerpiece to any collection!  The artwork is currently owned by a famous artist and comes with a Gallery Certificate of Authenticity from our Gallery, Griffin Gallery.  This piece was originally purchased from Park West and the Park West registration number is 87457.0000.  I personally have seen original Erte’s of lesser quality sell on Princess Cruise Lines for $22500.00 and up.
