Description
Hi there, after several years of buying on Ebay for my Americana collection I have decided that is time to become a "seller" and thin out my collection.  I am offering many choice Americana items over the next couple months, so please continue to check back with me.  Please feel free to contact with any questions or needs. For your consideration I am offering a very early New England possibly New Hampshire Redware Pitcher or jug.  This pitcher came from a very famous collection of Americana here in the Portland OR area , the Gantenbein collection.  Mr Gantenbein purchased his collection from some of the "best" folk art and Americana dealers in the 1950's through the 1980's.  The pitcher/jug measures 8" tall and 6" wide.  The condition is exceptional with the only flaw I can find is a very minute ding to the top rim- barely noticeable.  The glaze is a rich, rich reddish brown so typical of the great New England potters! I would date this Pitcher/jug as pre 1860 more likely from the 2nd quarter of the 19th C.  If you love redware you will LOVE this jug/pitcher.  I have a very modest reserve on this piece. Thank you for looking and please check my other early Americana listings!
