Description This still-life floral oil on canvas painting dates 1930 and the artist is Ibolyka Saskeoy.  The piece measures 30” x 20.”  Ibolyka was 100% Hungarian.  At the time of this work, she lived in Vrsac, Hungary, which is now located in Serbia because the borders changed.  Ibolyka died in 1972 in Sydney, Australia, where she had resided for about 20 years.  The piece was appraised in the Twin Cities at $78,000, and it is considered rare to have the date inscribed on the piece.  Also, the appraiser thought there may be a hidden message in one of the lower left leaves which artists were known to do in Europe in the 30's.  He said if that was confirmed that the piece would be valued at $250,000.   The Hungarian art market has recently seen a surge in collecting and investing, and this is truly a unique piece.  Please contact me with any other questions.
