He moved with his family at the height of the Cultural Revolution to the city of Chongqing where he was able to secretly study painting at 9 under a renowned Chinese instructor, a renowned instructor who has trained some of modern China’s most celebrated artists. After the revolution, he continued his training in the oil department of the Southwest Educational College. His work is full of dense Chinese colors, the lush atmosphere and Sichuan’s warm moisture is floating in the paintings. His brilliance is in the harmonious blend of traditional Chinese brush with the unmatched depth of oils, melting the eastern and western cultures and techniques together with complete integrity.
