Description
This superb pencil drawing by arguably the world's greatest pencil artist of aircraft depicts the 609 (WR) Squadron Spitfire Mk I flown by Pilot Officer P Drummond-Hay,over Chisel Beach, Portland 9th July 1940. Drummond-Hay was shot down this day over Portland and posted as missing. Because it was before the official start of the Battle of Britain (10th July, 1940), he did not qualify for the Battle of Britain clasp. However, this fine drawing has been personally signed in pencil by these Battle of Britain pilots:- G Swanwick 54 Squadron R L Appleford 66 Squadron Byron Duckenfield 501 Squadron 'Joss' Millard 242 Squadron It measures 17" x 12" overall, and has also been signed by the artist. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding. Please note my PC is office based, so I can only respond Mon - Fri 9am - 4.30 pm. Thank you for looking at this item. Stephen 5054
