Created during the latter years of his life, L'Aurore is a testament to his lifetime of bouquets, roosters, and blue skies which have been so eloquently translated in his œuvre. The bright blues, reds, and yellows complement each other so perfectly, the composition radiates an inherent balance and harmony, further echoed by the dual profile of our main character. Signifying wealth, virility, and prosperity, the red rooster helps instill a sense of optimism and fortune. Created in November, 1983, this work is hand-signed by Marc Chagall (1887 - 1985) in pencil in the lower right margin.
