DISCUSSION:This incredibly playful and joyous rendition of a little black horse prances throughout the composition; full of movement and life, Chagall is able to capture a childlike sentiment and nostalgia conveyed through this simple, yet expressive print. Vibrant blues, reds, greens, and sunny yellows fill the creatures with life, with just a glimpse of a town in the distance. A clown is astounded and mesmerized by this Petit Cheval, stepping back and letting him prance about. Whimsically bordered with a green and red outline, the miniature frame attempts to corral our imagination, while also reigning in the vitality and whimsy of this Little Horse.
