Description
CHARLES ROLLO PETERS, born San Francisco.  1862-1928Original CHARLES ROLLO PETERS  oil painting entitled, "Monterey Adobe at Night."The image is oil painted on canvas measuring 19" X 25" and is believed to be in its original frame. The painting is signed in the lower right corner by the artist Charles Rollo Peters.  The painting is from the estate of Horace Brown of San Francisco , California.  Its exhibition prior to Mr. Brown's ownership is unknown.  However, oral history suggests Horace Brown to be the first and original owner of the painting. The Painting remained in the household of Mr. Brown until his death in 2005.  The painting was sold by the estate of Mr. Brown and transferred ownership in 2007 to the current owner and seller.  There is a letter of Provenance from the Delphine Gallery, Santa Barbara, Ca., which documents these facts to be true; signed by Charles Brown (nephew of Horace Brown). The painting is in pristine condition.  The current owner had it cleaned and backed with protective museum board. This is a particularly beautiful nocturne of what experts are guessing the location to be an old Spanish ranch that became known as "Jack's Ranch," inland from the Monterey area of California. This is a highly collectible painting by one of the early California masters. The painting has never been in circulation and is a rare and unique with a value at auction to be upwards of $60,000. and above.PLEASE NOTE:1.
