This is enlarged view of the lower left front corner of the drawing showing a faint signature. This is a further enlarged view and the signature is a bit more visible. This is a picture of the back of the drawing showing a large signature and date. This a a copy of the research synopsis on the drawing done by Waite Collections. The drawing is purported to be by Justus Vanden Nijpoort (1625-1692) done in black chalk of a scene of 3 men and 1 woman in a tavern. The drawing is 9.7cm x 13.4cm. Signed and dated on the verso (see above picture). The drawing was purchased by Waite Collections in 1996. It is also noted in the research that his drawings are extremely rare. Also of note this is the beginning of the next level in drawings to be offered by Waite Collections and they are an upgrade in quality from our previous offerings and are priced accordingly. One other note. Waite Collections sold 4 drawings in one London auction approximately 2 years ago for a price $230,000.
