Good question! Here's a recent newspaper article about us--with a photo                          This beautiful Japanese print, "Yume no ukihashi" translated as "Dream Ukihashi", shows a floating bridge of dreams. The poem in the image is a pun on the last chapter of Genji. From Archival Record: Japan circa 1854. Original was created by master artist Toyokuni Utagawa. Actual print is much sharper and detailed than the low resolution scanned image used here.Image measures approximately 17.5" by 24" (44.5 by 61 cm).The art print is from a large format negative. We use premium semi-matte, Japanese paper and Ultrachrome ink, which has an archival rating of 125+ years.  Custom Framing & Matting Options We offer a variety of options for framing                                                                                        your purchase. Because we are dealing with historical pieces from a wide range of regions, creators and time periods, there is variation in the quality. However, we always ask ourselves if we would be pleased with a particular image framed and on display before we add it to our inventory. We do not carry low-quality "snapshots," cheap digital scans or multi-generational prints. When we create a large-format negative at the archive the resulting digital file can easily exceed one gigabyte. The detail is so good that the actual fibers in the paper or cloth of the original map are visible in the print we make. Are the prints in the public domain? Many of the images are available for use as public domain images. Some of the images can be licensed for limited commercial use and some are restricted for all commercial activities. If you would like more information about a particular image, email us. Will the watermark/writing appear on the print that I receive? No. The writing on the internet image of the print is to discourage copying and will not appear on your print. How are the prints shipped? Maps, prints & posters are rolled and placed in a plastic sleeve and then into a rigid tube that is of a larger diameter than the sleeve. This ensures that an impact to the tube will not be transferred to the image. Maps may ship via USPS, Fedex or UPS. International shipments are sent via air mail or air parcel post, depending on size. Fedex is available for international shipments but you must contact us first to arrange the extra charge. Is this available in a larger/smaller size. Yes.
