Description
Modern art or a figment of my imagination, these three objects remind me of the presidential candidates.....I am not going to explain the why of it or which item represents which candidate, I will leave it up to you.....There are four parts to the grouping; the trophy, the valve, the gear, and display base. The trophy is brass made by Jay Jewelers, of Massapequa LI NY, it reads; GRUMMAN (logo), ROAD RUNNER III, 1969, 4th OVERALL, measures 5.25 inches tall, 4 inches inches in diameter. Grumman was the Bethpage, Long Island Aircraft Corp. that produced most of the fighters for the NAVY from the 1940s HELLCAT thru the 1990s F14s TOMCATS. Grumman also designed the LEM and the wings of the SPACE SHUTTLE. The valve is 9.5 inches tall, 2.5 inches in diameter, made of steel. The valve is an interesting internal combustion engine part it passes hot air and atomized gas or diesel into the cylinders OR it passes EXHAUST gases (carbon monoxide) out of the cylinders into the atmosphere. The gear is steel or iron, it is an antique of sorts, as I recall it comes from a VICTROLA clockworks, its heavy and is 5.25 inches in diameter. This part is a major cog in the operation of the wind-up record player of a bygone era, it is critical for the operation of the VICTROLA. The display base is a milled plaque, natural wood, measuring 4.5 by 12.75 inches. Please keep your emails short, I will try to answer them. I sometimes post them to the auction.
