Description
We have given this paint the title of "To Death Do Us Part."                    Original Erik Pauelsen 1749 - 1790 Painting. This painting is as old as the Declaration of Indepenence.  Wow, what a great investment.  This painting is by a well listed Danish artist, Erik Pauelsen, who was born in 1749 and died at the age of 39, in 1790. This painting measures at approximately width 14 inches and its height 17 inches.  With the frame the painting is approximaetly 19 inches wide by 21-1/2 inches high. This is something that most people will only see in a museum. This painting is signed in back of the canvas E. Pauelsen and below his name PINX, this is the way Erik signed his paintings.  The frame looks like it is from the same time period and is in really great shape for its age and is very solid.    This well listed artist, Erik Pauelsen was a Danish painter and engraver.  Educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Art from 1770 - 1777, where he became well known through his illustrations for a trendsetting Danish history book by Otto Malling.   Erik Pauelsen was a skilled and widely used portrait painter and made fine, often sentimental portraits of a number of contemporary celebrities.  As a landscape painter he was very innovative and his paintings influenced contemporary painters. He came from a poor peasant family and woked as a decoration painter to finance his move to Copenhagen, to attend the Academy.  At the height of his career, Pauelsen committed suicide at the age of 39.  It came as a great shock to the public, and the Royal family.  The crown Prince bought all of Pauelsen's paintings and arranged for a pension for Erik's widow.  This painting could have been owned by the Crown Prince of Denmark at one time.  There is a very small torn paper label in the back of the painting that one can still make out, Erik P and below that a date 1749.        Prior to e-mailing us with questions, please read the entire listing page from top to bottom and if you still have questions about this auction, or any others, please feel free to contact SportsWorld via e-mail at isla822693@aol.com.
