Description
For sale is an exquisite example from the collection of work created by the artist Erte’.  This particular piece of work is inspired by a Folies Bergere costume.  It is a limited edition serigraph based on a master creation that consists of hand drawn mylar plates and printing screens.   The plates and screens have been destroyed. The limited edition includes a total of 534 impressions.  There are 300 Numbered, I-CL Roman Numerals, 60 AP, 20 HC, and 4 PP.  This particular copy is actually one of the 60 Artist’s Proofs, which are scarcer than the standard numbered series of 300.  It is number 32 of 60, and is signed by Erte’ in the lower right hand corner of the piece.  The certificate of authenticity lists the edition size as 60. One of the 300 numbered series typically retails for $7,250, though I did manage to find one retailing for $6,750.  I have not managed to find another AP for sale. The exact specifications are as follows:  Media:  Graphic Edition, Embossed Serigraph with Foil Stamping Image Dimensions: 35 1/2 x 29 1/2" Year produced: 1986 Edition Size:  300 Numbered, I-CL Roman Numerals, 60 AP, 20 HC, 4 PP This piece is wonderfully presented with beautiful framework, designed to match the colors of the piece itself, primarily the copper and teal.  The Certificate of Authentation is included in the purchase.  Regarding the artist, Erté was born in 1892 and passed away in 1990.  He is globally recognized for his elegant fashion designs which capture the art deco period in which he worked.  His delicate figures and sophisticated, glamorous designs are instantly recognizable, and his ideas and art influence fashion into the 21st century. Several photos of the piece for sell are displayed here.  I will answer any and all questions, and will provide as much information as I possibly can, including links to retail listings of the number 300 series. This piece was purchased at Wentworth Gallery in Miami, Florida, and includes the embossed corporate seal on the certificate.  It has hung in a place of prominence in my house for years, and has been the centerpiece of discussions on several occasions.  I’ve set a relatively low starting bid price; however, I did set it at the minimum I would be willing to sell it for.  I am not in a hurry to sell the piece, so I will not barter for below the minimum bid.
