The value of this painting is believed to have increased significantly since the artist's death.Raymond Page was born of California stock in 1945 and spent his boyhood on small California farms. First near Venice and later near Riverside, where his Father ran aircraft reclamation businesses. Page's initial formal training in art was at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. He later enrolled in a private studio program taught by Glenn Vilppu, a Dutch artist and Art Center professor specializing in classic figure painting.Raymond Page mastered the art and science of glazing. His approach to capturing the power and tintillating beauty of nature is reminiscent of the old masters. The quality of the colors, varnish and other mediums he cleverly used in reflecting and refracting artificial and natural light is masterful and mesmerizing.There are approximately 25 layers of glaze on this piece... it looks like there must be a matte glass over the image...
