Description
Fred McDarrah (1926-2007)Street Transvestites Gay Pride Parade  March 24, 197311x14 RC Gelatin Silver Print. Titled and signed in ink on the recto.  Titled and signed in ink on the verso.  In very good conditon with a few minor soft handling crimps only visable in raking light.  , 11x14.  Archivally matted 16x20. The late Fred W. McDarrah was the primary photographer and picture editor at The Village Voice during that newspaper’s first thirty years (and he was with The Voice as consulting Picture Editor). McDarrah was the eyes of The Voice. His pictures were the graphic expression of the United States first, largest and most spirited alternative weekly as it recorded -- and helped create -- the most vibrant decades of the greatest city in the world. Besides his work for The Voice, McDarrah also photographed for his own book projects, starting with The Beat Scene, 1960, and The Artists World in Pictures, 1961, followed by more than a dozen other profusely illustrated books. The quality of his photography work was no doubt aided by his in-depth knowledge and passion for New Yorks overlapping art, writing, music, and theater scenes. On Dec-03-07 at 17:25:49 PST, seller added the following information: Use the FREE Counters 1 million sellers do - Vendio!
