Description
hollow_cut Store Fine 19th c. SILHOUETTE PORTRAIT of a White-Haired Gent Description:   Beautifully painted 19th century silhouette portrait of a distinguished older gent.  Both the execution of the silhouette and its overall presentation are exceptional.  The painting is highlighted with china white and gum arabic and the detailing of the gent’s bright white hair is just wonderful.  The portrait is housed in its period deep swept rosewood veneer frame with an unusual gilt plaster oval surround that complements the silhouette so very well.  I have never removed this silhouette from its frame as it is so securely housed as to be “permanent”.  The silhouette is in excellent condition; the frame is excellent condition noting that there is very minor veneer loss to the lower left corner edge and bottom center edge and the plaster “slip” has an obvious age crack - nothing that detracts from the visual impact of the piece.   The reverse of the frame has a missing bottom molding (not visible when viewed from the front); it’s a very deep frame, almost a shadow box effect with 2 “layers” of molding that have been attached with something similar to rose-head type nails.A large silhouette for a bust portrait measuring in total ~9½” high by ~8¼” wide; the sight size of the silhouette itself is ~3½” tall.  An exceptionally fine example.Terms:  Insured shipping within the US is $15.00.  Prompt payment is appreciated and expected within 5 days (Paypal or cashiers check/money order).  No Personal Checks please as it takes my bank upwards of two weeks to clear.  Please let me know if you will be mailing payment. I will gladly leave positive feedback for you once I know that your purchase has arrived safely.  If you are unhappy in any way, please contact me immediately.  I will accept returns if the item is not as I have described.  Please email with any questions BEFORE bidding.  Returns must be made within 5 days and will be for the bid price only; shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser. I ship USPS priority mail or UPS and insurance is always included.  I am an extremely careful packer so rest assured your item will be more than adequately protected in transit.   I am always happy to combine items for shipping, in many cases at no additional cost; please let me know if you are bidding or planning to bid on any other items. Please contact me directly for international shipping options.  I would estimate most international destinations to run in the $30 - $35 range with insurance and tracking.  About Me:  I am neither an expert nor a dealer but will do my best to describe these pieces, all of which are from my own personal collection.  Hopefully the photographs will "tell the story" but feel free to email with any questions.   Thank you!PLEASE NOTE:  THIS IS A FIVE(5) DAY LISTING ENDING ON MONDAY, MARCH 24th.  THANK YOU!
