The artist Midlands landscape artist Thomas Baker was born in England in 1809. Known as “Baker of Leamington”. Exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1831, 1847 and 1858,but more frequently at the British Institute and Royal British Society of Artists. Best-known and probably the most accomplished painter of the numerous Baker family artists. Painted mainly landscapes in Warwickshire and the Midlands. His diaries which contain a complete list of his works, are in the Birmingham City Art Gallery. Usually signed T. Baker and numbered each picture on the back.
