Description
~~~ABU ZEYD by GEORGE FORD MORRIS~~~ ORIGINAL OIL BY THE LEGENDARY MASTER OF EQUINE ART Little needs to be said about the greatness of the renowned GEORGE FORD MORRIS. This superb artist probably did more to preserve the history of America's horses, of all breeds, than anyone else ever has. This oil depicts the famous Arabian stallion, ABU ZEYD. His sire was MESAOUD and his dam was ROSE DIAMOND. Lady Anne Lytton pronounced him to be the most beautiful son of MESAOUD. He was foaled in England in 1904 and was later imported to America in 1910 by Homer Davenport. He became the premiere sire of W. R. Brown's Maynesboro Stud, in New Hampshire. As a sire, he produced, among others, BAZLEYD, who in 1933 became the first US National Champion Stallion. The painting was done in 1936 and had additional work done in 1955. Both dates are shown with the signature. It is on a masonite board. The frame dimensions are 36" by 28". The image itself measures 29" by 21".
