Description
Attention, serious collectors... Being offered is an original, genuine oil painting on board by Spanish surrealist painter Joan Miro(1893-1983) Signed "Miro" and date assigned "1959". Also signed "Joan Miro" at back. Painting measures 13 inches across by 14 inches high, without frame. This painting comes with it's all important certificate of authenticity(at back..) compliments of the Joan Miro Foundation; see photos.. NOTE: the Joan Miro Foundation is the authority on Miro's work. I have seen this certificate of authenticity documented on appraisal web sites, and also on a show on Ovation, which discussed authenticating paintings, and illustrated a couple of these actual coa's from the Miro Foundation on two oil paintings on board. This painting was executed by Miro in 1959. It is typical of the aesthetic Miro was going for at the time.. Note, the simplistic, abstract forms in the foreground, which were a dominant theme in Miro's work of this period. Also, observe the background, which has considerable depth and movement, compliments of a "marbled" look Miro pioneered in this period. If you look closely at the paint, you can see a "cracked" affect, which is correct to the period. Look at the signature at the bottom, right-hand corner of the painting; it is correct to the period. Do your homework, folks, I insist... IMPORTANT: this painting shows obvious, appropriate, light discoloration from age(see photos..) and a few scratches from wear. No objectionable chips or scuffs present. IMPORTANT: The coa reads "JOAN MIRO* FUNDACION, Centra d' Estudis d' Art Contemporani, Paru de Montjuic 08038 Barcelona" along with phone and fax numbers, and the title "MUSER SENTADO, FEMME ASSISE". ALSO IMPORTANT, is the assigned date "1959". IMPORTANT: "CERTIFICACION" is stamped across the coa, and there are 4 seal-stamps(one on wax, the others are ink..) that read "JOAN MIRO FUNDACION, Barcelona ESPANA", which is consistent with where the Joan Miro Foundation is actually located. There are also code numbers stamped to the back: "696939", and "08096", for verification, I suppose.. It is noteworthy to mention, that as with the title, "FEMME ASSISE", the image does appear to be a woman with bright red lipstick and a baret holding a male symbol in suspension. I have provided a photo(2nd) of the painting out of the frame, which, btw, was custom made to allow the owner to remove the painting with ease, and at their discretion. No expense was spared in the conservation framing of this painting, including museum-grade, glare-free glass, and the highest quality frame-stock and canvas-trim available. Also, the canvas-trim can be removed, which allows you to remove the glass, if you so choose to do so.. So, why am I selling this painting on ebay, and not at one of the big auction houses, like Christies or Sothebys? Very simple: money... I need to pay outstanding bills, now, and can't afford to wait on one of the auctions mentioned above to sell the painting down the way, when "too late" could mean that I could loose my house, among other things.. I'm sure you understand, and appreciate this... So, you see, you have a chance to acquire this original and rare painting over ebay, and possibly at an incredible steal, to boot.. As you can see from my description, I'm no spring chicken at this art business(respectively..) and I stand by my good word here: THIS IS REAL, FOLKS... I have set a low opening bid to get things started, and no reserve, so I recommend you take advantage of an unusual and advantageous opportunity to obtain an authentic, museum-grade painting by Joan Miro. Seriously, don't beat around the bush on this one, or you may end up very sorry you did... Enjoy the auction, and email me with any questions.. Good luck...      On May-14-08 at 00:02:03 PDT, seller added the following information: Seller's disclaimer: besides the coa on the back of the painting, I have no further documentation for this painting, sorry.. Some may see this as a buying advantage, although Ovation emphasized that this coa is the all important, deciding factor in determining a Miro painting's authencity. Also, I must point out, that while I am knowledgeable on Miro, and have experiance in telling older paintings from new, I am not a licensed authenticator. Please do your homework on this piece before bidding, I encourage this... That said, and to save time here, I will now state that this is an "As Is" item, meaning all sales are final. Thank you for your interest, and good luck..
