Description
"Whitebird's Coup" is a limited edition (3 of 6 cast) by the internationally acclaimed artist Lorenzo Ghiglieri. This monumental sculpture records a moment when the Indian can make his individual stroke against the adversary in a bold move which proves his superiority. In this instance, his stroke is against a U.S. Cavalry officer who has been touched with the coup stick by White Bird and humiliated. This is one part of a series of six that Ghiglieri had planned in recording the history of the Nez Perce Indians. This work was appraised on March 19, 2008, by Edward N. Okil, National Institute of Appraisers, for a value of $95,000. This appraisal is available for perusal. Lorenzo Ghiglieri, in his sculpture, has created this extraordinary art work. His works are prersently displayed in the Vatican, the White House, at the Kremlin, and in the Royal Palace in Madrid. Michael Jackson, Luciano Paroratti and General Schwatzkopf are a few others who take pride in their ownership of a Lorenzo Ghiglieri sculpture. The present owner bought it personally from Lorenzo in 1979, and ordered it when it was still in wax form. It is in flawless condition. There are no scratches or abrasions and the felt pad on the base is completely intact.
