OFFERED: Offered as one lot...the entire collection of framed 1920's mottos, generally known as Buzza Mottos (for the Buzza Motto Company), though other companies are represented. This collection was accumulated over a number of years by a person who intended to write a history/collector's guide/price guide on the subject. For some reason, certainly not for lack of examples to photograph and include for discussion, the book was never written. Now the entire collection...204 examples in all...are up for bid. I am starting at a price that is an obvious bargain. I reserve the right to end the auction early if there is no interest, so I can list them individually or is small groups. Obviously, I would rather keep the collection together. Even more than the for variety, this collection is amazing for the excellent condition of the items. This can be seen in the photographs. What cannot be seen in the photos are the bright, crisp colors...they simply don't show up well because all are behind glass and reflection of light off of the glass does not allow the color to show as it should. It is also hard to see that some are reverse painted, some are set back like shadowboxes, some are in original boxes, some have glitter paint, etc. Suffice to say, you will be more pleased with them in person than from my photographs. It will be obvious to you that this collector tried to purchased only prime examples in top condition. Lots of time, miles and dollars when into assembling this collection. I hope you will appreciate the variety. There are very few duplicates. I think it will be safe to say that there are more pictures below than you will ever have seen in one auction. I could think of no other way to present this astonishing collection. (I made it all the way to item #166 before I gave up and did group pictures for the last 40 or so.) If you own a gift shop or have a space in an antique mall, this would be wonderful inventory...or, maybe you could write that book about these wonderful mottos.
