This auction is for an original Haitian Painting on Canvas by the artist Joseph Jean-Gilles. Painting is 47" x 23 1/2" and was acquired in Haiti in the 1960's. Painting is in EXCELLENT Condition.  About the Artist: Joseph Jean-Gilles was born in Hinche in 1943, He was a member of the Centre d’Art until 1967.  He is now a resident of the US, where he has exhibited at Columbia University, the Goddard-Riverside Community Center, and the studio Museum in Harlem.  His work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Waterloo Museum of Art in Iowa, the Flagg Tanning Corporation  - Milwaukee Art Center, and at the Gallery George Nader in Haiti.  He is listed in The art of Haiti by Eleanor Ingalls Christensen _ The naïve Tradition – Haiti, The Flagg Tanning Corporation Collection, Milwaukee – p. 104 (with illustration on p.33)  - “The Miracle of Haitian Art” by Selden Rodman, NY – p. 89 – and  Peintures Haïtiennes, Editions Delroise, p. 64 (with illustration on P. 65) "We strive for 5 Star Service!
