This collector rarely displayed these works except for sporadic gallery exhibitions. He is retiring and moving to much smaller quarters necessitating the sales of many of his pieces. Up for auction is a beautiful steel engraving by renowned artist Hedley Hilton. In this engraving it appears to be the interior of a medieval church or museam interior. This is a very active fascinating piece from the romantic era. Other interesting features: ·         Crispness of lines ·         Appears to be first off the press ·         Slight flaring by signature and also in lower edges ·         Good overall coverage ·         Plaster mold on framing The backing is from The Venice daily Vanguard, dated 1912. That appears to be the last time it was framed. Engraving viewable size: 16” W x 24” H Engraving with Vintage Frame Size: 35” x 26.5” x 1” Weight: 23 pounds Condition: The painting/engraving appears to be in excellent condition for its vintage. The frame has several nicks or scratches in it. The engraving, as noted previously is covered in 1912 newspaper (that has numerous tears.)
