Description
We are delighted to offer for sale an important exhibited sculpture by Paul Manship. The sitter is Sir Douglas Alexander, 1st Baronet, a British born Canadian industrialist who for nearly fifty years headed the Singer Sewing Machine Company. The sculpture is signed and dated 1944. It bears the foundry mark of the Roman Bronze Works of New York. The sculpture was exhibited at the first major Manship retrospective at the Smithsonian. The plaster model for this bronze is in the collection of the Smithsonian.
