Description
The price is $125,000/auction IRONWOOD SAIL FISH This is a 1 of 1 carved by a master carver in the Province of Sonora,Mexico This piece of art is handcarved from a single block of Ironwood approximately 6 feet in height. The only sources for this wood is Southern Arizona and the Province of Sonora, Mexico. Arizona has band all cutting of these trees and Sonora has cut all of them so it is impossible to get a piece of wood this size for any future carvings. The only carved pieces that exist today are of table model height or smaller. This particular carving has a splice in the upper point of the bill about 4 inches from the tip. The craftsman was a master and did an exquisite job and it is my feeling that this would make an outstanding decorative piece. It is presently in our home . Ironwood is one of the heaviest woods known, It is estimated that this piece will weigh approximately 300 pounds. It polishes to a high luster and other than dusting it should be maintenance free. I had it fitted with a one inch piece of plexiglass and attached it to the base with four 4 inch anchors and lag screws. This makes it very stable. Care must be taken not to put pressure on the bill or the small fins. There are probably 100.000 Billionaires in America and Probably 1 million millionaires, someone of you should want a nice piece to decorate your home. I have a few friends who are Millionaires and I have seen what they paid for some pieces in their homes not as nice as this. I am 80 years old and want to divest myself of a few nice things. I can always so no"""" so make an offer. This can be shipped anywhere in the world. I use PAYPAL for my broker.
