Description
Measures roughly 15.5" wide x 11.5" in height.... Drawn with permanent markers/paint pens on plywood painted with white house paint. John Henry says this is "a truck with them hunting antennaes...." This one has a string attached with nails on the back for hanging. Mr. Toney lives by himself in an old trailer down a dirt road in Seale, Alabama. He has no running water which matters not a bit to him....he says he's usta makin' do, and if he had it, life would just get more complicated. There's a large old tree next to his trailer that he sits under and creates his art on nice days. He carries all of his artwork around in the trunk and back seat of his old car just in case anybody's interested. Signed with his full name, age at the time he drew it (he's 80 now), and his phone number.... I bought this straight from John Henry. That is his church you can see in the background. He was helping cut up and remove a huge pine tree that was blown down right behind the church. Imagine! 80 years old and he's out there in 94 degree muggy Alabama summer heat loading a truck with big pine logs! NOTE - The painting is smudged and scraped here and there as much of Mr. Toney's art is.....kind of like the velveteen rabbit....being loved and used is what makes it "real".
