They collected several works by Indian artists of the time and these have been in their possesion ever since. More provenace including original owners' name will be provided to the buyer. This is a wonderful still life of flowers by one of Indias' leading 20th century painters. Krishna Hawlaji Ara, 1913-1985 was famous for still life and nude studies, was a member of the Bombay Art society and won a gold medal for his oil on canvas "2 Jugs" in 1952 and exhibited in galleries around the world. His paintings consistently sell on the secondary market (auction houses) in the $7000 - $38,000 range. We believe this guache is one of his better works, although we have priced this lovely piece at wholesale value. The painting is in perfect condition and has the Bombay framers' label on the back. It is signed "ARA" in lower right. I cracked the glass removing it for the pictures, so it will be shipped unglazed. The image measures 26.25" X 19" and the frame measures 30" X 23.5".
