The Fokker DR1 was a notorious fighter plane that took control of the sky, proving its engineered abilities time and time again . . . The DR1 would rule the skies of the First World War, with speed and agility . . . a legend on the "Front". The rate of climb for this machine was incredible, it could shoot up a mile in under three minutes - nearly twice the speed of it's opponents. History tells a tale of unmatched performance by the Tri-Plane that forced many to a fiery death. Manfred Von Richthofen, the top flying ace of the war, scratched up 80 victories flying his Fokker DR1. The Red Baron was feared by all. Richthofen's skill and the planes ability to turn on a dime, left little chance of survival. J.Gatti has painted the DR1 performing the calculated duty it was designed for, shooting down enemy fighters - one by one, day after day. The British SE5 was a product of the Royal Aircraft Factory, a proud British Governmental Department. Powered by a 150 horsepower engine, the SE5 was fast and responsive with the ability to dive steeply. Besides speed and strength, this single seater was equipped with two guns - making it a true menace. J.Gatti has painted the British SE5 on a day of misfortune. Taking a fatal hit, this fine craft fell victim to the Red Baron, the relentless fighter that ruled the dark days of the war. Red Baron Downs Another is a fine addition to your art collection.
