Although I have never received formal training in art, even as a child I was able to appreciate the powerful, emotional message in the piece, and I clearly remember the vast amounts of time I spent staring at it, and figuring out that it was somehow representative of my mother and her love for me (and my brother). Today, my grandmother recalled the picture that my mom loved so much, and instantly - much to my own surprise - I clearly visualized your name as part of the art, which made my internet search for the piece very easy. I must say, seeing it again, after so many years - years which included the sudden death of my young mother, and eventually the birth of my twin daughters and singleton son - is a moving experience. Although I can remember what the picture used to represent in my life, the years of sadness and loss, as well as more recent ones of joy and growth, have buried my memories beneath layers of new meaning. I no longer hold the perspective of a child, immediately seeing myself on a swing, and my mom holding my baby brother nearby; now, I can visualize the girl in the right corner as my mom's spirit, myself as the mother, and by babies as the other two children. It's really special to think about the movement of Mother and Child as a circular, and to consider the subjects as intangible roles through which we evolve, and watch as subsequent generations bloom. Thank you for creating something that meant a lot to me as a child, and which will continue to grow more significant as life goes on. Sincerely, Heather High-Kennedy
