The piece is pastel and the subject matter is an old world woman standing in a doorway with an empty bottle.  The work is typical Mackenzie Thorpe with exaggerated features and a soulful expression on the face.  Mackenzie Thorpe is a well known British artist and his work, including original pastels and sculpture has increased significantly in value.  There are a number of pieces on various sites that are being offered in excess of 10,000 - 15,000 British Pounds (approx $20,000 - $30,000 US).  Mackenzie sells his work through several galleries in the US including New York and Chicago.  This is a great deal for a collector or anyone who wants to invest in Thorpe's work.
