Morton auction. Maria Izquierdo was one of the most important painters of the Mexican art in the XX century. She was born in 1902, San Juan of the Lagos, Jalisco; its childhood passed in Torreon, Coahuila and it got married at the age of 14 years, separating of his husband in 1923. In 1928 she studies during a year in the Academy of San Carlos of the Mexico City, in which her teachers were the painter German Gedovius, the writer Manuel Toussaint y  Ritter and where she knows the painter Rufino Tamayo, who lived with from 1929 to 1933. Maria Izquierdo learns the basic elements of the different techniques that are used in the plastic arts, but in fact Tamayo was its great teacher in the handling of the watercolor by the hand of Tamayo.
