He was one of the last living students of Picasso and he is acknowledged as one of the most outstanding contemporary artists of the 20th century. His works are housed in over 20 museums around the world including Museum of Modern Art in Paris, Japan, Helsinki, Geneva etc. Mouly was influenced by the work of Picasso, Matisse and Braque. As you have noticed from this work, Marcel Mouly worked with deep powerful colors, which were used in the similar manner of the Fauvist painters - Matisse, Dufy and Derain. However the architectural structure of his compositions were derived from cubism.
