Elkayam moved to Israel with his family in 1956. He studied at the Beer Sheva Art School as well as at Bezalel in Jerusalem. His work is very colorful and rich in Jewish symbols, many of them based on Kabbala. His main motifs are Jewish themes which include Bible stories, festivals, and symbols. He has exhibited his works in Israel and abroad and his works can be found in the museums, galleries, and private collections.
