DISCUSSION: This very dramatic and forceful work by Miró is one that is both stunning and mesmerizing. Set against a bold, black background with a simplistic line composition in white, this piece culminates in a bright, red blotch in the lower half. Quite a large-scale, vertical work, the tri-color arrangement blends perfectly together to encompass Miró's ideas on creative surrealism. Created in 1961, this work is hand signed by Joan Miró (1893 - 1983) in white ink in the lower right and numbered in white 146/300 in white in the lower left. Printed on wove paper, this work is catalogued in the Maeght archives as no. 1722.
