Description
Miró, Joan (1893-1983), L'éloge de la main (Hand Eulogy), Original Color Etching & Aquatint, Signed & Numbered ARTIST: Joan Miró (1893-1983) TITLE: L'éloge de la main (Hand Eulogy), 1974 MEDIUM: Original Color Etching & Aquatint IMAGE SIZE: 25 ¾" x 20 ¼" (65.41cm x 51.44cm) FRAMED SIZE: 42 ½" x 37" (107.95cm x 93.98cm) SIGNATURE: Hand signed by Joan Miró (1893 - 1983) in pencil in the lower right. EDITION: Numbered 7/50 in pencil in the lower left. CONDITION: A great print with rich, vibrant and saturated color. Very good condition. DISCUSSION: This fantastic composition, echoing the shape of Joan Miró's unique handprint in the center, is rich and vibrant with a myriad of color. There are dramatic rays of red, green, blue, and black which radiate from the center against a background of whimsical starbursts and blotches of purple and orange. It seems to magnify or "eulogize" the symbolism of the hand which has a contrasting gleam of yellow in the center. The entire print seems to engulf the viewer in a surrealistic environment that appears to be alive with movement and energy. Created in 1974, this work is hand signed by Joan Miró (1893 - 1983) in pencil in the lower right. Numbered 7/50 in pencil in the lower left and printed by Morsang, Paris on Arches paper. Published by Maeght, Paris.
