DISCUSSION: Featuring an explosion of reds, yellows, and greens arranged in a splattered and lively composition, Femme et Oiseau Dans La Tourmente captures the eye embraces the imagination. Miró has an uncanny ability to take everyday figures, such as a woman and bird, and abstract them into a surrealist and incredibly simple way. We are able to see both characters' torment in the various circular markings of varying depths and strengths, conveying the emotion and passion which Miró has instilled into this work. Created in 1967, this work is hand signed by Joan Miró (1893 - 1983) in pencil in the lower right. This specific lithograph was printed out of a series of 75 without the text and numbered 46/75 in pencil in the lower left. Printed by Arte Adrien Maeght, Paris on wide-margined Arches wove paper.
